All up and running now - found the answer to game minimising to taskbar and refusing to stay on screen!

Just press left mouse button as fast as possible while screen is blank until it selects! This has also worked for a couple of other games so is not Cod4 specific - worth remembering.

Game is running really smoothly, I was getting 250fps with everything at max settings in 4k - and Arma II was running in the background at 4k and 60fps too! Awesome card the GTX1080 8GB

Got my new graphics card installed - and wow what a difference!
Now running BF3 in ultra on all settings in 4k at 90 fps! Looks awesome, cooling fans are still idling too lol.

Just need to get cod4 working again now, still closing to the taskbar when launched :(

I cant get cod4 to run in multiplayer at all now
    :(

Blank screen drops to task bar and won't open - single player works fine! typical

Going to need a new graphics card...

I'm running a 32" monitor, great size - 3840x2160 but my GPU is only a Nvidia 745 and has run out of steam at that resolution!

Only getting 40 - 100 fps or so now, with detail turned down too.

Looking at the mini (my motherboard won't take full size) GTX 1060 6GB, seems reasonable value for money below £300 - I've got to update the power supply too...
