    found a version of miregrobar's subbase (mw2) remake, that works with our mod, 9last version crapped out on loadscreen, and was removed) , really glad to have this map back partytimeeee

    As for realtek driver ye im gonna try removing it later and see what happens, would be a shame to lose it though since it seems far better than the xp default and all my configurations are based around it lol. Worth a shot though just to see if it is that causing it or not. Weird how i never had this problem on the first install.

    Gonna try a few more games later with cpu cleaned before i do anything though to see if i just got lucky yesterday or if that was the problem.

    From what ive heard 45 max on this cpu is very impressive lol. Apparently amd basically scrapped heat/power efficiency so that they had a cpu that was more powerful than intel when amd began to fall behind.

    Considering another cooler but im planning on upgrading pc once i have the money anyway because this rig is pretty old anyway. That cpu is 2007 and my mobo is pretty old too, ECS geforce 6100pm-m2. Only fairly new part is my GTX 650.

    Planning to upgrade to an athlon 760k or phenom 965 though, both of which should run alot cooler. Gonna replace my mobo in the process and hopefully install 64bit windows 7 and get some more ram in.

    Just a matter of money and time but seems a little pointless buying a better cooler incase it doesnt fit the new cpu/mobo.

    Jag, if u had the problems with that Realtek sounddriver and cod4, delete that driver and use that stock sound driver that comes with win xp.
    Had the same problems with my old PC and win XP, all games running fine but only CoD was everytime crashin, after deinstall the driver and usin the XP sound driver i could play for hrs..

    And ur temperatur probs, try to undervolt ur CPU and please buy an better cooler, that AMD stock cooler was/is crap.

    So, now i need more beer and try to play a bit.. cheers2

    If it's the old X2 6000 I had one and mine ran at around 45c max when playing games iirc.

    Have you checked what voltage is being put through the cpu as some older AMD based boards, would throw more voltage through it than was needed and would cause the cpus to overheat.

    I have not used a AMD based pc though since I changed from the 6000 to the 6400, and I had to change my board when I changed the cpu because the older board, couldn't handle the 6400.

    I used a old Zalman cooler on mine.

    Easiest way to test if it's the cpu or the motherboard causing a issue is to get a, desk fan and aim it directly in to the case without the side panel and then you can see when your, gaming if anything happens.

    If you do think that the on board sound is the issue, if you can try a separate card in it as they are quite cheap.

    managed to play a game fine once my ping stabilised so hopefully sorting out my cpu temps fixed it. we'll see.

    its an old athlon 6000+ with stock cooler, case is unbranded lol. Now that i reapplied thermal paste im running 60-65, this cpu is naturally a hot cpu and apparently max is 70 so im doing fine for now with that.

    And nah im on windows xp, been having this issue ever since i got this mobo i think honestly so could well be realtek driver though dont want to count it out just yet.

    Kust tried playing and after first person joined my ping spiked to 200 and increased to the point where it reached 800, i seriously have no idea whats going on anymore

    @Jag what cpu, cooler, case, airflow etc have you got?

    90c is very hot and won't be doing your cpu any favors at all.

    Also if your COD 4 is crashing if you are running Windows 8 that could be the issue, because Windows 8 and PB don't mix to well on the Call Of Duty games.

    That would explain why cod4 is the only game playing up though, dont think i have any other games currently installed that use pb other than rainbow six vegas 2 which actually suffers the same problem.

    Not calling it a PB problem until i investigate further though, could still just have been my cpu overheating.

    I actually just did another google aswell to see if other people experienced such overheating problems and 1 link led to another and just found out apparently punkbuster isnt a huge fan of realtek audio drivers.... this could be a doozy.... looking for a fix atm.

    @jag ye I get gc overheat with cod4 don't get it on mw3 or bo2 they both run fine tho fps on those is around 70-80

    May have fixed my pc, will have to give it a test later. Not sure how i didnt notice previously but my cpu was running at 90-95c, anyone fancy a bbq?

    Anyway reapplied thermal paste and cleaned it out a bit and hopefully it will work better now. Its certainly running coolar and other games seem to be running without crashing as much. Trouble is cod4 always crashed alot more than newer games in the first place which seems odd so i think there could still be an outside issue.

    I'll try cod4 later today and see what happens.
